WIP: 1/1 RX-78-2 Gundam

Not my model obviously ^^;. Picked up this news tidbit from none other than Danny Choo (who picked it up from Gundam.info). I’m sure most of you already know of this project already so I don’t have to say what everyone else already said. Nonetheless, I’m very impressed. What grade would this model be labeled as? xD

Like how it is built just like its Gunpla counterpart xD. I wonder how they clean up the nub marks…

Only one thing came to mind when I saw this: There’s going to be a MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 Ver. Tokyo. *sigh*

  1. Personally, while I concur with that (be it the GC one or this), I’d be almost equally interested in trying out (with others especially) the Bonds of the Battlefield arcade game where it looks like you can pilot a mobile suit the way characters do since the original anime. As well as the actual “Gundam vs.” arcade games (GvG NEXT especially) in an actual arcade. :)

And even if it’s more iconic, I wonder what tourists unknown to Gundam would think about the final shooting pose made into a statue… “Huh? What’s this? Where’s the rest of the thing?”

  2. The working team behind this (from ideas to completion) must be proud of it! I can feel our spirits (gunplayer) is together with RX-78-2.

  3. Y’know, with all the joking about it, was it that easy to guess? Was it that typical of Bandai? I’m not sure how I missed it while skimming down Ngee Khiong’s blog, but scroll a little bit down on this entry:

An “HG Gundam RX-78-2 30th Anniversary Ver.” to be released in July. Wow, maybe they aren’t content with just selling already-made Gunpla after all, but they didn’t go all the way and outright make an MG of it either. Maybe not yet. I’ll just refer to it as “Tokyo ver.” since “30th Anniversary Ver.” is a mouthful. In any case, Bandai sure knows how to milk one of the most iconic mecha in recent history. As if it needed further confirmation for the umpteenth time. :)
