Gunpla Inochi 2009

There’s nothing more appropriate for the last post of 2009 than a review of this blog over the year ^^. There were quite a few developments here this year and a lot went on. Let’s start with the main statistics- The reviews:

Spicy Chinese Food

Went out to dindins at Lucky Strike with the m0nejer after work ^^. It’s been far too long since I last had any good (or real) Chinese food at a restaurant. Never thought I could actually find even a remotely decent Chinese restaurant in Oregon until now… but I’m from New York so my opinion here is a bit very biased.

This was the most anticipated dish on the menu. It is called “Hot Pepper Chicken Bath” or something like that. I think the name and photo speaks for itself and its taste :D. By volume, I think there were a lot more chili peppers than chicken bits XD.

Pineapple fried rice was full of yum. Big chunks of pineapple and… spam.

The place claims to be a Chinese restaurant but it serves this Thai dish, Korean pancakes, and kimchi fried rice… on a sushi platter no less xD. I’m not complaining though since the food was delicious and the environment was very contemporary (apparently all the furniture and decors were from IKEA ^^;).

I noticed its Chinese entrees were mainly of Szechuan (四川) origin so I just had to try their Mapo Tofu. Oh my was it awesome. I can pretty much call this “Hot Tofu Pepper Bath” :D. Oh yea, don’t I need like some sort of figure to be in the photo too? Maybe I’ll use a Gundam next time…

Chili peppers, ginger, garlic… and last but not least (and most importantly), sichuan peppercorn (this stuff gives your tongue an awesome numb feeling). They’re all here… in that pool of la yu ahaha. Had to eat most of the spicy dishes by myself as the monejer couldn’t handle anything more than ground black pepper… Hope I don’t get any stomach attacks later tonight xD.

Do you get to enjoy Chinese food in your neck of the woods?

Hi-Nu Gundam HWS

Master Keita does not disappoint. EVER. This is like the best looking Hi-v Gundam I’ve seen in a LONG time (before the MG redesign). Mere mortals like me can only dream in my dream of making something like this out of a HGUC Hi-v and vGundam. Not sure if all of you have seen the gallery before but it’s worth looking at again. Link is here. Oh yea… he auctioned this model off for 108,000 yen (that’s ~$1100). The starting bid was only 5000 yen. Just saying…

Let’s not forget he also created a very badass “MG” Astray Red Frame Ver. Ke as well. Not sure if it is safe showing this one at the moment though since it might skew our perception/expectations for the upcoming MG Red Frame from Bandai ^^;.

Yea… it’s a bit sad to see such works of art being sold off instead of being kept but I have a feeling he would have relatively little to no problem producing another one again… but only better ^^;.

Happy Holidays!

Whether you celebrate Christmas/Hanukkah/whatever or not shouldn’t matter  too much as we should all take this time to get together with families and friends and just enjoy ourselves and the company of each other. Even someone like me who hates Christmas for what it is today (a mindless holiday shopping season driven by businnesses/corporations… you know it!) can appreciate how happy everyone around is having a good time, together or alone ^^;. Enjoy the atmosphere and cherish the finer things in life. Now here’s my new favorite christmas song…

Again, Happy Holidays everyone! :D

Time Devices

Is it wrong of me to be surprised to still see people asking me for the time? I still get asked that from time to time by strangers. I mean… with technology these days, a “time teller” is like a no-brainer and is pretty much embedded wherever it can be and then some >_>. There’s a clock virtually everywhere! After thinking about it, I realized the average person carries quite a redundant amount of “clocks” around with them (me included). Aside from my watch, there’s a clock on my cellphone…

and my mp3 player…

So I carry around three “watches” just on myself alone. There’s also a clock in my car, in my desktop, in my keyboard, and in my laptop. And a clock in my Haro. Then there’s also the clock in whatever place I’m in. So in an ideal condition, I am surrounded by 5-10 different devices in which I can find out what time it is. Pretty redundant huh? So it does sorta amaze me when different people ask me what’s the time (even when there’s a screen that displays it right next to them) xD. So how many clocks do you usually carry around?

Unrelated note: I would like to some way change the theme at some point where there’s a spot on this blog for me to make more “casual” posts like this and a “main” one for the Gundam stuff. Seems like a neat idea…

I’ll be out and about in the next couple of days so don’t expect any Gunpla WISPs from me ^^;
