Day 2- Shabu Shabu

There were so many “first times” for me during the road trip. First time in SF, first time to six flags, now first time for shabu shabu. ALL I CAN EAT SHABU SHABU!

We came right before 9:oo PM (they close at 10:oo PM) and thought we would get kicked out but apparently, we can stay and eat as much as we like! We ended up staying till 11 PM ^^;. There’s no way this would fly in Oregon… we would’ve been kicked out 15 minutes before closing.

We were promptly seated and the fresh ingredients were brought out for us.

THAT BEAUTIFUL FINE CUT BEEF!

The pot of broth/water with kombu.

Assortment of udon, mushrooms, shirataki, tofu, and veggies.

The sauce for dipping: gomadare (sesame sauce) and ponzu (citrus soy).

Wait for the pot to start boiling then you start adding stuff, and of course…

you shabu shabu…

*shabu shabu*

SHABU SHABU, BABY!

Eventually, the pot will look something like this so you gotta clean it out a bit and then…

YOU SHABU SHABU!

No… I didn’t upload the same photos over and over again. The four of us went through six plates of beef and four plates of veggies total. I think I ate the most… like I said, I will eat with a vengeance!

All you can eat Shabu Shabu for only $25 per person… throw in a few drinks… and we were in heaven. Sukiyaki, yakiniku, Korean bbq, hot pot… now I can add shabu shabu to my list of favorite social food gathering night! WHY DO WE NOT HAVE THIS IN PORTLAND!?!

You know what else? FREE COMPLIMENTARY MATCHA ICE CREAM!

It’s not over yet…
