Sergei’s Tieren “Iron Man” Taozi or the Tieren All-Region Type was a high-performance Tieren that was used for only 1-2 episodes during the orbital elevator hijacking event in Season 2. I always wonder why the heck he didn’t just take a GN-X with him *shrugs*. Guess a Tieren suits him better. This is my tribute to the Wild Bear of Russia!
OUT OF THE BOX
Seven runners in total and a little sheet of foil stickers. Basic enough.
BODY UNIT
The body’s structure is quite different from that of Celestial Being’s stuff so it was a refreshing build.
HEAD UNIT
Simple enough.
ARM UNITS
The arm is pretty solid. Even though it uses polycaps for joints, there are outer covers for them so it doesn’t look so lame. The hands also better than CB’s Gundam’s hands which you will see why later.
LEG UNITS
Like the arms, the legs are also very solid. Lots of armor and even armor on armor (side of the knees) o_O. This unit is definitely built for all region!
WAIST UNIT
Waist unit is simple. No side skirts nor front/rear skirts. Just a simple waist with a propellant tank(?) at the back.
WEAPONS
Ditched the solid-gray beam toothpick for something more realistic. I don’t know where that pink beam is from but it works! I think my favorite weapon out of this bunch is the smooth bore gun… it looks cool ^^.
COMPLETED MODEL
Straight built. Pink parts spray-painted in Tamiya Gunship Gray. No foil stickers applied. No topcoat.
Looks like a mobile suit version of a tank ^^. Just needs a cannon I guess…
Close-up. I really dig the blue on this Tieren! I know it is by design, but one thing I don’t like about the head is that I have to remove the “helmet” in order to rotate the mono-eye because the head can’t move.
ARTICULATION
BRING IT!
For a semi-bulky thing, it sure can pull off some martial arts stance with ease.
Even kicks like a champ.

E-CARBON BLADE
It looks deadly enough…
You know what makes this Tieren more awesome than CB’s Gundams? The hands… they can actually hold the weapons thanks to having slots in the palms for the pegs on the weapon. No more silly slippage like Cherudim’s rifle or falling out like the beam sabers.
SMOOTH BORE GUN
Hmm… I should’ve painted the rails aluminum instead of Gunmetal for better contrast.
It’s so nice that the gun plugs into the forearm so there are still free hands!
The rails are apparently hard enough to be used as a weapon too so this gun doubles as a club/blade thing!
It works on the other hand too!
GN BEAM RIFLE
Probably its most powerful weapon.

TIEREN SWORDDDDDDDDD!!!
Having a GN saber as a bayonet is a pretty nice addition.
The beam makes for some nice shooting effects ^^.
PROS AND CONS
PROS
– Free moving; there are virtually no obstructions anywhere so its articulation can really be pushed to the limits.
– Solid all around model.
– Decent set of armaments
– The hands are way better than the Gundams.
CONS
– I know it is by design, but having to remove the helmet every time to change the eye’s position can get old pretty fast.
– The body-to-waist connection is a tad bit on the weaker side so sometimes the body can separate.
– arms can only bend up to 90 degrees. Nothing too serious.
– Not that I care for this part but a good portion of the orange parts on this Tieren’s body comes from foil stickers… which I didn’t apply. And the model still looks great.
VERDICT
This is a great model. Very mobile, and very solid. There is hardly anything worth complaining about. It’s almost as if the model is better than the actual unit it represents. Its design might not be as aesthetically exciting as a Gundam but it is still a special MP military grunt unit. I think this model will make Sergei proud and does the Tieren justice.

I like the way you change the pinkish parts into gray BTW, That “rail” is actually cooling fins for the gun, with melee weapon as its second function.
I sorely wished for more Tieren variants in the 1/100 scale. I have the 1/100 no-grade of the Tieren, and to be honest, the only thing it lacks to make it a Master Grade is an inner frame. Because the kit itself is pretty solid. It’s got great articulation for a bulky thing and it has textured surfaces that feel like cast iron! The articulation on the HG version appears to be about the same if not a little better – I’ll admit I’ve not tried posing my “Iron Man” in martial arts poses but after seeing your review…^_^

Seems like my comment wasn’t submitted, too bad. Anyway, Tieren is my second favorite grunt unit next to Zaku. For grunt units, I really like it big. Though in the anime, this grunt didn’t really show anything fancy. In short, it’s a cannon fodder, I still liked it.

the joints reminds me of the Ahead series.. solid non obstructive but the bend of the elbows are the real weakness i can see too :D
Now that you mentioned it, the Ahead is like an evolution of the Tieren…

Still i like the conciseness of the review and im surprised this kit is so well done considering it was only used for 2 eps. like you mentioned. you do manage to make it look really cool. it does seem like a nice model to have strictly for the sake of variety.
All of the above except the last reason for the topcoat haha. I actually wanted to do it since I already went so far as to spray paint the pink parts into gunship gray. I must conserve this stuff though. I still have 20 cans left but given the number of models I have left, I need to use it sparingly.

Yea there is… a bit of a weak one. I think I used one of the punch-out gems from the wings of the Gundoom and just painted it clear red though.
