Z's Gundam model reviews
Comparison between the MG and 1/100 head. While some 1/100 design will begin to look like utter crap as the MG version is being completed, the regular Red Frame continues to hold its own against its MG counterpart. I’m not saying the MG head is not stunning (it is very gorgeous!) but again… goes to show how well the original 1/100 was designed ^^;.
Just started on this model earlier today and this is what I’ve got done so far. What a fine piece of polycap this is!
With finals being just around the corner and last minute assignments due, I won’t have the time to work on anything until Spring break. Heck, I’m not even done with the Unicorn head display yet haha! All the parts are still a mess on the floor. Anyway… A rather unsurprising loot came a few days ago and I only took a glance over one of them…
Just gonna dump a few random stuff and unrelated thoughts in this post so I don’t have to make multiple posts ^^;. Finally picked up the Feb issue of Dengeki Hobby at my local Kinokuniya so I don’t have to pay for that absurd shipping. Both Feb issue of Dengeki Hobby and Hobby Japan features the MG V Gundam one way or another but I almost wanted HJ’s issue because it had a custom MG V2 >_>. Prepare for a very long post ahead…
Badass boxart for the MG Red Frame but not quite as badass as Sword Impulse’s or the Gouf 2.0’s ^^. I would like a bit more dynamic pose similar to the PG box but this is good too. That triangle setup on its back reminds me of Delta Astray…
Bring in the swords! February is gonna be an awesome Gunpla month. You know it and I know it! The MG Astray Red Frame is looking more and more gorgeous with each new scan! The above seems to be a straight build and from what I can tell/speculate, the Gerbera Straight will have gold parts (not exactly plated it seems… just shiny gold?) so no need to paint! Actually… I probably will just for the sake of using my own gold. I’m going to hate painting the fingers again though…
YES! Another sword model! I don’t like the 00 but swords are always welcome so I might pick him up and scrap the so-far-a-disappointment new MG Unicorn model. However… I won’t doubt that there will be quite some weight issue with this model after some play though. I don’t believe that GN drive can actually support the weight of that Buster Sword so well after a short while…
Not in February but worth a mention. The new MG Unicorn seems to be a recoloring troll so far but I can patiently wait to see if it has anything more special than an open v-fin and a different shade of white… okay, so it even has better articulation too >_>. But we’ll see…

Master Keita does not disappoint. EVER. This is like the best looking Hi-v Gundam I’ve seen in a LONG time (before the MG redesign). Mere mortals like me can only dream in my dream of making something like this out of a HGUC Hi-v and vGundam. Not sure if all of you have seen the gallery before but it’s worth looking at again. Link is here. Oh yea… he auctioned this model off for 108,000 yen (that’s ~$1100). The starting bid was only 5000 yen. Just saying…
Let’s not forget he also created a very badass “MG” Astray Red Frame Ver. Ke as well. Not sure if it is safe showing this one at the moment though since it might skew our perception/expectations for the upcoming MG Red Frame from Bandai ^^;.
Yea… it’s a bit sad to see such works of art being sold off instead of being kept but I have a feeling he would have relatively little to no problem producing another one again… but only better ^^;.
