WISP 02: HG Destiny Gundam

The straight build is 100% complete, weapons included. However, after looking at the finished product, I am pondering if I should take the few extra steps to do some paint detailing on it.p1180987

Like the thrusters on the legs. I can’t believe it came in white! So wondering if it is worth the trouble to hit it with some gray.p1180986

And here we have some very monotone weapons. Some color correction would really help it out here a bit. I am usually apprehensive about painting for color correction than little details because of the time and patience it takes. I don’t have the skills ^^;p1180988

Despite the huge amount of foil stickers (common for its time), the design is decent and the proportions are sharp. More anime-accurate than the stylized MG and RG models if that is your preference.

Well, if I am going to do some painting and topcoating then it will have to wait. Portland is currently experiencing a late/super early white Christmas with record snowfall so I can’t work outside.

Maybe I’ll build or do something else for the meantime…

HG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. GFT Review

As I’ve promised, here is my first proper Gunpla review – The HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.GFT. Check it out!

Man… it sure feels good (and a bit nostalgic) to be doing all this again. At first, I got a bit worried as my mind went blank figuring out how or where to start setting up poses. I’m like, “alright. It can’t be THATTT bad” but after awhile, I’ve finally felt like I was able to get back into it ^^;.

Still, my lighting equipment could use some upgrade. The shadows are cool but could be more well lit. Oh well. I’ll figure that out later.

Until next time!

Cracked Paint

Maybe I should have double checked my paint chemistry or something before working on this and I wouldn’t have run into this problem. But what’s done is done; I was gonna topcoat the Kshatriya a few days ago until I noticed the black paint on the trims are cracking. I wonder if this is due to the type of paint in the Gundam paint marker mixing on acrylic (the white paint)? Now I need to come up with a solution where I can fix this without starting over or ruining the look too much. The parts look like shit now. blah.

Last Kshatriya WISP

Yay… finally got around to the last part of the model (haven’t assembled it yet; still cleaning the pieces). Sadly, it is also the most repetitive. Made even more annoying in that most of the parts are round. Terribly draining to clean the nubs off.  Oh well… at least I can say I am almost finally done with this beast…

The rest of the parts. Arghhh… Those nubs on curves and grooves! With this done, I just gotta finish the sleeves then topcoat. I hope to finish this and roll out its review the same week as the Stark Jegan’s… whenever that may be ^^;. Until then… continue to work on more Gunpla. Like my first MG Gundam in awhile.

WISP: HG 1/144 Kshatriya Main Unit

I am really taking my sweet time with this kit so progress is really slow but that is always better than rushing; I don’t want to make any silly mistakes or burn myself out already (damn, I need to increase my Gunpla stamina…). If you need more proof that the HG Kshatriya is actually an MG in disguise, then the arms and legs should be convincing.

WISP: HG 1/144 Kshatriya Body and Stark Jegan Completed

A bit slow on my part this time on working on Ksh’s body. The body is practically a scaled down MG body minus a cockpit! Inner frames, multiple layers, nice color separation and all. The outer armor was so tight fitting, I thought it might snapped or get warped!
